On October 18th 2022 we open our social business hotel in Kathmandu

…which means fair wages for employees and the entire income donated to our local NGO partner. After 25 years of collaboration with our Nepalese friends, we are all excited about this step, which will be accompanied by a feeling of greater autonomy and dignity for the local NGO.

This historical house in the centre of Patan (south of Kathmandu) has become a small guest house, in which some of our grown-up children can learn a profession in the tourism sector. In addition, they contribute with their work to support the children home in Tathali, so that other orphan or abandoned children can live their childhood peacefully: a circular story that we like very much.

Shanti Shrestha was one of the first orphan girls supported by Kam For Sud, she is now an adult, has studied Business Administration and is happy to take over the management of this Guest House. She is assisted in her training by Sarah Schwarzenbach, a professional in the hotel sector (in the photo, first from the left, with her husband and daughter, followed by Silvia -projects coordinator- Shanti and Rajan -Nepalese projects coordinator). The photo, taken in April 2022, sealed the beginning of a new adventure for everyone and six months later we are now ready to open.

It will be a pleasure for us to welcome at the Newa Chen Guest House the guests who would like to experience the Kathmandu Valley from a privileged point of view, immersed in the architectural balance of authentic Newar culture and encouraging our young people to become every day better in their job.
