Saipu DHAKA: Developing Handicraft And Know-how Activities

Born in 2003 thanks to the initiative of a group of Saipu inhabitants, the project Saipu DHAKA has supported the handcraft’s work of a group of women in the production of traditional textiles in cotton with decorative motifs, called “dhaka” after the project. Encouraged by the local ONG, about fifteen illiterate women started to produce these textiles with the hope to improve their own economic conditions. Kam For Sud has supported this initiative, especially for what concerns the commercialisation of these textiles.
