Covid-19: survive the virus or survive the lockdown?

The lockdown in economically fragile countries has very serious short-term implications. After Nepal closed everything, the day-workers, who in normal times earn during the day what is barely enough to bring a hot meal to the table in the evening, suddenly don’t know how to feed the family. The Nepalese government has taken steps to provide help in the emergency, but unfortunately the public subsidy is insufficient for the poorest families. In the suburbs of Kathmandu, Kam For Sud operates a day care center for children who are abandoned during the day because their mothers work as day labourer. In this circumstance these families – often single mothers with children – suffer most severely. Thanks to you, affectionated and precious supporters who participate in our work from far away, many mothers could receive the money needed to purchase food for an entire month. They came one at a time, with a mask, to take their own envelope which immediately solves the enormous problem of feeding a family! Thanks for being with us in this moment, that is difficult for everyone!
