2020 - 2021
Pandemic emergency
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the closure of all economic activities in a country where many people earn daily what they need for survival, caused an economic crisis even worse than the health crisis. Day laborers have found themselves overnight unable to feed their families, with a very inadequate public subsidy. Mothers of the children of the RODEC day care center, all of whom were day laborers or pieceworkers, with very low incomes and no social security, obviously found themselves in great difficulty. During the lockdown months of 2020, Kam For Sud distributed to all families a monthly envelope, in order to allow them to buy basic needs.
Thereafter, Nepal didn’t close its economic activities anymore, but in 2021 the Indian variant of Covid generated long queues of people in respiratory distress in front of the hospitals. Kam For Sud was able to send and deliver twenty oxygen concentrators to several hospitals in Bhaktapur, Dolakha, and Ramechhap districts. A drop in the ocean at a time of crowded hospitals; still the concentrators brought relief to many people.
