Hotel-social enterprise

In a historic house in the center of Patan, already restored in 2006 with funds from UNESCO for its special historical-architectural value, Kam For Sud runs a hotel-social enterprise. Some of the children who grew up in the NGO’s facilities (children home, day care centre, scholarships) can learn a profession by working at the Newa Chen hotel and contribute, by their work, to support the Tathali children home, to which all earnings are allocated.

Shanti, one of the first girls to be supported by a scholarship, has since obtained a Master’s degree in Business Administration and has taken on the role of hotel manager. Pratyush, who grew up at the Rodec day care centre, works at the reception, while Anil, who grew up at the Tathali children home, is in charge of the kitchen.

The hotel offers fourteen rooms: eight in the historic building and six in a new wing, restored by a young Newar architect with the aim of ensuring its integration into the historic complex.
