Your donations to help the communities affected by the terrible “mountain tsunami” that swept out the Trishuli River Valley in Nepal are allowing us to provide very tangible assistance on the ground! Our efforts are coordinated with those of local authorities, who direct operations to avoid duplication and waste. The fund established by the new government in Kathmandu to address the humanitarian crisis has so far raised the equivalent of 62 million Swiss francs. Through this initiative, the local government aims to provide urgent assistance to the affected regions; however, since it cannot reach every area and everyone equally, it needs the cooperation of local NGOs. For our part, we are committed to distributing essential supplies such as fuel, batteries, gas cylinders, solar panels, clothing, food, torchlights, blankets, tents, sleeping pads, medicine, and personal hygiene items. Some of the young people supported by Kam For Sud through a scholarship program have volunteered to help distribute relief supplies; others, now adults and self-sufficient, provide financial support for our relief operations. It’s always a great source of satisfaction for us to see these children, who grew up at Kam For Sud, become grateful young adults who are at the forefront of helping others.
